Environment Problem
The author, Michael Harris of the Toronto Sun, explains the following things in "It all boils down to water." Recently the climate of the earth has been changing. A good example is the Arctic ice. The sea ice of the regions is decreasing and becomes water gradually and even the arctic permafrost is melting because of global warming. And there is very little fresh water in the world. The rate of fresh water which we can drink is just 1%, so whether we should sell water or not is a serious problem, also.
Nowadays, the environment of the Earth is being noticed in the world. Especially global warming is one of the most serious problems. It might be the cause of many climate problems. And water is a very important thing for us, but fresh water of the earth has limits to its use. However, it is polluted by our behavior. I think we have to change and fix the environment to live on the earth before we consider about whether we should sell water or not. Therefore, I talk about what we should do for the environment and water next.
First, we should do something to control global warming, which is the cause of melting the Arctic ice and many problems. Generally speaking many cities or lands will be under water in the future because of the melting Arctic. Nowadays the temperature is increasing because CO2 rates are rising and forests are cut down. When we use cars and make some things in the factory we have to make exhaust, CO2. Today we can't live without cars and industry. Also, we need trees to make paper or houses or some other things, but trees assimilate CO2 and create O2 (oxygen), so the CO2 level is increasing because forests which assimilate CO2 essentially are decreasing.
Second, we should consider that how we should't pollute water. We had had enough fresh water to live before industry was developed, even though the rate of refreshing water was very low. These days, however, we have polluted water when we use water with detergent or something in the house, or make industrial products in the factory. The house and factory drain harmful things into the river or lake which has fresh water.
Third, we should use the developed technology to improve the environment of the earth. We have developed many things, technology, industry, living standard, etc. Currently there are some products for the environment, for example, hybrid car, solar battery, recycling system, etc. but I think it is not enough. If everybody thinks about environment problem, we will produce much better products.
In conclusion, there are a lot of things which we can do for the environment of the earth. Each person should consider these problems and think about what that can do for the earth. If we don't do this, this problem won't be improved and just will become worse. I hope we solve these problems and take back the very beautiful and comfortable environment in the near future.
